As promised!!! From easy knitting patterns directly to your screen, here is my super easy cat!!! Meaow!!!
I have to tell you that I was getting pretty ambitious... I recently bought a MAC and it comes with a video camera and all that stuff... so, my intention was to make a "how to video" for this pattern....
Oh well, this is the truth: I am fighting with this computer everyday and my brain is still thinking PC.... but very soon, when I learn how to do it, you will see some pretty cool tutorials!
Back to the cat.... this is a very easy project which this time I made with some cheap yarn, but you can go fancy and use some nice wool.... It makes a very cute gift for a baby or an infant, but I have to tell you that most of my all grown up friends want one too!!!!

Ok, here is the pattern...
EASY CAT
Materials:
1 CARON SIMPLY SOFT in Grey Heather 2710 (3 oz)
1 CARON SIMPLY SOFT in Sage 261 (3 oz)
1 CARON SIMPLY SOFT in Mango 9605 (3 oz)
Any non hairy black yarn and red yarn (for face)
Tapestry needle
If using magic loop technique for the whole project:
#8 circular needle (40 inches)
If not using magic loop:
#8 double pointed needles (set of 4)
Polyester fiberfill stuffing
BODY
If using magic loop: With circular needle cast on 60 stitches in Mango. Click here for a magic loop video tutorial. Knit 18 rows.
If NOT using magic loop: Use double pointed needles. Cast on 60 stitches and start knitting in the round. Knit 18 rows.
Switch to Grey Heather. Knit 5 rows.
Switch to Sage. Knit 25 rows.
Stuff body with poly. Close with kitchener stitch or grafting leaving about 1 inch open.
Here is a tutorial for kitchener stitch:
Finish stuffing with poly.
Close the 1 inch opening by sewing it together with a tapestry needle.
ARMS (make 2)
Cast on 12 stitches in Grey Heather. Knit 5 rows.
Change color to Mango. Knit 5 rows.
Switch to Sage. Knit 5 rows.
Leave a 7 inches tail and cut yarn.
With a tapestry needle go with tail across the stitches still in the knitting needle. Release the stitches from the knitting needle. Pull tail tight, hide inside leg, make a knot and cut.
Stuff with poly.
LEGS (make 2)
Cast on 20 stitches in Mango. Knit 5 rows.
Switch to Grey Heather. Knit 3 rows.
Switch to Sage. Knit 10 rows.
Leave a 10 inches tail and cut yarn.
With a tapestry needle go with tail across the stitches still in the knitting needle. Release the stitches from the knitting needle. Pull tail tight, hide inside leg, make a knot and cut.
Stuff with poly.
Sew legs and arms to body with matching color yarn and tapestry needle.

Hi. I am a new knitter. Great pattern & great instructions! So far, so good, I am amazed that I can accomplish this! I closed the top of the body of the cat as directed, what stitching do you use to close the lower end?
This is wonderful! I have 10 grandchildren, each of whom is getting one of these (in different colors of course) for Christmas!
It is very interesting for me to read the blog. Thanks for it. I like such topics and everything connected to them. I definitely want to read a bit more on that blog soon.
